Board Silly Tomorrow
We had some doubts at the start of December, how close to Christmas we'd be able to keep playing games at the Newbold Comyn Arms.
Gary tells me that it was discussed last week, and at the very least, he and Ray will be around to play games tomorrow night. I'll be there too, and the pub will be open.
That's a quorum then. Come and join us, if your Christmas preparations allow.
We should be prepared for the possibility that it'll be quiet and they'll want to close early; although by the same token people might be celebrating in there.

Gaming 8th December
The approach of Christmas combined with a failure to post reminders on the blog, boards and pages meant that only 8 people turned up. Still good enough for 2 healthy gaming tables and 4 games total:
- Blood Bowl: Team Manager - The Card Game - I didn't play, and have never played a blood bowl game so I'll leave any write up to others.
- Transeuropa - Fantastic quick and easy train themed game.
- Galaxy Trucker - I like this, there was some murmurings of it being too random. I think it all depends on who you are playing against, and if someone decides that they're going to build as quickly as they can and put everyone else straight on the timer :)
- 7 Wonders (+ Leaders) - Probably the best game you can play in under an hour?

Last night's gaming
Last night saw another healthy three tables' worth of players.
- Eminent Domain - Seems to involve space colonisation
- Jacob Marley, Esq. - Best £4.95 I ever spent on a board game based on financial markets
- Notre Dame - "It plays a billionty times better than I thought it would do" - Gary

Play board games in Leamington tonight
8pm at the Newbold Comyn Arms.
I'll be there. Gary'll be there. We'll bring some games.
If it's anything like last week, there'll be many more.
As always, there'll be something newcomer-friendly in the games bag(s) and first-timers don't pay the 50p contribution to the club games-buying fund.

Last night's gaming
Last night saw a bumper showing of, um, approximately 14 people I think.
We split into three tables, playing:
... accompanied by the dulcet tones of ukuleles.
The barmaid checked the diary, and next Thursday has no bookings that would interfere with our gaming.

A note about December
We all know what December's like.
People: They have parties and school nativity plays and family functions and after-work drinks that get in the way of the important business of playing board games.
Pubs: They fill up with seasonal revellers, who spend money on upwards of three drinks each, which makes it difficult to find room for a bunch of board gamers.
For these reasons, check here or on the mailing list before rolling up to Newbold Comyn on a Thursday night in December expecting to play games.
Tonight (being November) is definitely on. Next week, 1st December, is probable. The following week, 8th December is questionable. The 15th is unlikely. The 22nd is fanciful.
But do check here. Two or more people, and an assurance from the bar staff that there'll be room, is all we need.
